Tips for a Successful Family Session with Little Kids...
Photographing families with young children can be both rewarding and challenging. Here are some of my top tips to ensure a fun, stress-free session:
1. Timing is Everything
Plan your session around golden hour (the hour before sunset) for the best lighting. It’s also important to consider nap times—well-rested kids are happier and more cooperative!
2. Dress Comfortably and Coordinated
Neutral tones and soft, flowing fabrics complement the natural beach setting. Avoid overly busy patterns or colors that clash. And most importantly, make sure little ones are comfortable so they can move and play freely.
3. Let Kids Be Kids
Instead of forcing stiff poses, embrace their energy! Let them run, jump, and explore the beach. Some of the best moments happen when kids are simply being themselves.
4. Bring Snacks and Breaks
A quick snack break can work wonders for keeping little ones happy. Pack non-messy treats and water to keep energy levels up.
5. Keep It Light and Fun
Parents, the best thing you can do is relax and enjoy the moment. Kids pick up on stress, so if you’re having fun, they will too. Games, tickle fights, and playful interactions lead to the most heartfelt and genuine photos.
Capturing the Magic
The family I photographed at Stone steps embraced all of these tips, and it made for an unforgettable session. The kids ran barefoot through the sand, collected seashells, and giggled as the waves chased their toes. The parents shared sweet moments in the glow of sunset, and together, they created memories they’ll cherish forever.
If you’re considering a family session at Stone steps Beach, I’d love to help you capture your story in this stunning location. Let’s make magic together!

Having these beautiful moments saved is valuable.

Why Family Sessions Will Always Have My Heart
There’s something truly special about capturing the love, laughter, and connection between family members. Whether it’s the way a child’s eyes light up as they chase the waves or the way parents hold each other close as the sun sets behind them, family sessions are filled with pure, authentic moments. These sessions remind me why I fell in love with photography—because preserving these fleeting moments is a gift that families will cherish for generations.
