Newborns & babies
Thigh rolls, gummy smiles, and tiny toes...
It’s the little details that make a newborn session so special. When it comes to capturing the essence of your baby, I like to do so naturally — letting them simply be who they are. My approach is to keep your little one exactly where they want to be: in your arms, or warm and cozy in their own space.
While most photographers define “newborn” as only the first few weeks, I consider anyone under six months a newborn. Those early months are full of fleeting, beautiful changes — and each one is worth remembering.
My sessions typically take place either in your home or nursery, or out in nature with mom, dad, and siblings. I steer away from costumes or overly posed setups, focusing instead on authentic, heartfelt imagery.
Some of my favorite simple props include:
- Moses basket — a woven basket with a soft, cozy insert
- Rocking chair — I’ve been known to carry this one into nature, and am always happy to bring it along
- Milk bath — available once your baby’s umbilical cord has healed; most little ones love the warm water, and it’s a beautiful way to capture those calm, expressive moments
I always bring a selection of wraps and cozy knits, but I encourage families to include personal or sentimental pieces — something handmade, passed down, or full of meaning.
Newborns crave closeness, so I always urge parents to step into the frame. Let me capture those tender snuggles, quiet feedings, and all the love that fills your home.
